| - If this is the same iTea as the one from San Jose then I am ecstatic! I made the trip to Tempe today because I discovered on Instagram that they were having their soft opening. I rarely ever write reviews anymore but this place deserves to be recognized.
I am originally from the Bay Area where there is an abundant options of boba/milk tea places. I have tried nearly every place here in the East Valley and a couple on the West Valley but am almost always disappointed, usually because of the lack of drink options and pricing.
iTea impressed me because of their drink choices, topping choices, the option to pick your ice and sweetness, pricing, and the fact that their regular size cups are the "large" elsewhere! Oh, and boba is INCLUDED in the pricing of some of their drinks! (For some reason, other Arizona boba locations don't do this) I'm also excited about the food options they have as well! I ordered 4 drinks; roasted oolong milk tea, earl grey milk tea, okinawa milk tea, and the black tea kreama. I also ordered the basil popcorn chicken and seasoned curly fries.
Simply put, the drinks were really good! The popcorn chicken and fries were really good too! There was actually chicken and not just chunks of breading like the other places! I'm not sure if they an option to make it spicier, but I sure hope they do when I come next time! I also wish there was a sauce included with it, but I guess I'll have to ask next time too.
Anyway, I highly recommended going to iTea if you're a boba fan! And ICan't wait to come back again too!
UPDATE: The food is not the same. At least the popcorn chicken isn't. The chicken pieces are now mostly just breading and the "chicken" is the fake kind like Nuggets from McDonald's. Their Milk Tea flavors are not as flavorful anymore... it's as if they are watered down. I thought it might just been a one time occurrence, but I've gone back several times now and it's still just BLEH. I think they did their best and actually made an effort during the soft/grand opening but now I feel like they've gotten "comfortable" and don't really care anymore. I'm really disappointed!
