Have thought long and hard before writing this review. My journey with the former LA boxing now UFC started 9+ years ago at the Galleria mall. It is my belief that I may be one of the first (if not first) active member of the LA BOXING Anthem then UFC Gym in Anthem ;that closed a few months ago. UFC Green valley is the remaining gym as of Dec 17. 30 lbs lost, many friends made and ultimately meeting my fiancee. Needless to say my loyalty for this place has remained steadfast. It all changed.
Fast forward to 2017. Decided to discontinue training with the 6am crew/class in around April after multiple no shows from trainer's and even when present didn't seem to want to be there. One trainer even proclaimed. It is _______ day. I shouldn't have to be here to teach. The decision to coach is one's free will. If the odd hour's is bothersome. Maybe choose a different career path, other than fitness. A few times when a coach no showed, I volunteered to step in to help run class to prevent a wasted hour for the group. Issues seemed to stem from upper management/ownership and trickled down.
Kept my membership due to reasonable cost and hope things would improve, subsequently joined another gym but remained a paying customer. Ultimately decided to cancel and walked into UFC GYM Green Valley. Owner's brother encouraged me to stay and freeze membership for 3 month's with a good reason to believe Anthem would re-open. I bit hook, line and sinker. What really dissapointed me was not only membership not frozen, it was doubled and billing continued.
Several months later and after a dispute, some of the double charges were removed (thanks UFC GV) however because I disputed charges and froze my card a processing fee was charged for no payment. Today I am in collections. Will clear it up and move on but an almost 10 year experience ends on a sour note. Still have several friends who attend there and a few coaches I stay in touch with. There seem to be some positive things going on and a great 8:30am class.
If you are contemplating a membership or a current member. Document, document document. Please also be mindful of monthly credit card transactions and they are remaining consistent with your agreed upon membership agreement. I take ownership for lack of oversight and monitoring to get to this point but when you sign a freeze agreement, is it unreasonable to expect a business to make whole on it if they didn't honor the commitment?
