| - I wanted to love these bagels, and give this place 5 stars, but I simply can't. Here's why: both bagels I tasted were seriously under-baked. Not a little under-baked, but squeeze-the-bread-just-little-and-it-turns-back-into-dough, under-baked. I can't give any higher than 3 stars for that baking faux pas. I get that they are turning out bagels quickly, but they needed to give them another good 10-12 minutes in the oven, minimum. Make the customers wait for quality.
The flavor, however, was excellent. The salt bagel had the perfect amount of salt without making me feel like a blowfish, and the jalapeño bagel was jam-packed full of jalapeño flavor. You can also tell they use the boiling technique which makes them a chewy texture. If only they had been baked well!
I did not get a sandwich, or even cream cheese, since I wanted to see if these are truly NY-style. They are...except for that one thing I mentioned 120 times.
Maybe a bad day for the Bagel Man. I probably won't be back to find out.
