  • LIES & SCAMS! I brought my car in for new tires & alignment. I was told they'd also do a free oil change. I was given a call later that evening to let me know work was completed. After paying my bill, Ryan tells me there are other issues with the car, some of which would need fixing ASAP. He said the oil pan was seeping, rear brakes needed replacing & all the rims were badly bent. Then he told us the lower control arms were blown & front struts were blown & leaking. He said if the control arms & struts weren't replaced ASAP, all the work we just did would be for nothing. My ? was why didn't he call me to tell me this while the car was on the rack? Maybe I would've gotten all of the work done at one time. He said it'd only take 1 day to get parts; I could've left it there but I wasn't even given the option. Why have me waste $ on an alignment that would have to be done again after the other "ASAP" work on the control arms & struts was completed? He threw out a casual $650 verbal estimate for the control arms & struts but did not put estimated costs for repairs on my paperwork. He only put what needed to be done, what needed immediate attn. & that I had declined the work (before even speaking to me about it). The next day, my boyfriend called to schedule the control arms & strut repair & spoke with someone else that quoted over $900; far from Ryan's $650. Another red flag. That prompted us to call other mechanics for estimates on what we were told needed to be done & ultimately decided to get another inspection. Only 3 days later, we took the car to a recommended distant family member that was not conveniently located but ended up being well worth the drive for honesty! He showed my boyfriend & I when he put the car on the rack. Guess what? Control arms were fine. Struts weren't blown or leaking. Rims weren't bent. Oil pan was totally dry also. The new front tires hadn't even been balanced by Tire Works & after looking at the oil, he realized our "free" oil change wasn't even done. The only thing Tire Works got right, was that the rear brakes needed replacing. Tire Works also made no mention of the obvious leaky rack & pinion (although I'm sure that may have been down the line on their next list of repairs, along with some more lies). If we had gotten everything repaired that Tire Works told us needed fixing, we could have easily dropped over a couple thousand for unnecessary work, not to mention the shotty work they did do. I'm glad we trusted our instincts to go elsewhere & pay someone else for their honest work with our safety in mind, instead of these scammers at Tire Works.
