| - My husband, despite being a buttercream-hating heathen, was actually the one to suggest that I get my cupcake fix at the Cupcakery instead of the our usual go-to, Babycakes at M.
The selection - assuming you like buttercream and cream cheese frostings (for the Cupcakery offers no glazes, cream, etc.) - was impressive. (Again, assuming you don't like filled cupcakes, of which there were none.) The raspberry cupcake with champagne frosting was delicious.
That said, even a delicious cupcake misses the mark when it's on the puny side and costs 3 dollars.
The "signature" red velvet was forced to compete with recent memories of dessert at DW Bistro and came up gasping. It's red, yes, bright red even, but otherwise bland.
Finally, the service was awkward. The counter person stood there, waiting expectantly, creating unnecessary tension. I probably would've bought twice as much if no one had been staring at me. (We were the only people there.) Still, that ended up saving me money and possibly (per the red velvet) some disappointment.
Again, the raspberry cupcake was delicious, but not at that price, not at that size, and not when - thanks to the red velvet - I'm wary of the other selections. (Plus, I do prefer filled cupcakes.)
So, I can't think of a reason to return to the Cupcakery, and I'm no longer bummed that their southwest location over by me was scrapped, but if you go, give that lovely champagne frosting an extra lick for me.
