| - Fat Head's has always been a staple of mine for beers since I became interested 'craft' beer years and years ago. The restaurant itself has been transformed over the years. It now offers a wider bar area, more indoor seating and now outdoor seating. They have even started producing their own line of beer (brewed in Cleveland).
I personally like coming here for the beer. The tap list is quite lengthy. There are over 40 beers on tap continually. The beers range in style, thought I typically see more IPA's on the menu. They have IPA's, Pale Ales, Stouts, Imperial Stouts, Farmhouse Ales, Brown Ales, Pilsners, Hefeweizens, Red Ales, Lambics, Porters, Rye Ales...etc, you get the picture I hope. They also have one beer on the hand pump. Though many of the beers are Fat Head's brewed beers, they do have lots of other beers from breweries from within PA, the USA and around the world. As a personal note, I really love the Head Hunter IPA and the Goggle Fogger Hefeweizen. Despite the constant turn-over of taps, I find the tap lines to be clean and have never had a beer that tasted funny. Most 16 ounce beers (the lower ABV ones) go for roughly $6.00. Not extremely cheap.
The food menu is rather extensive. They have tons of sandwiches, wings, salads, appetizers, burgers, chips, fries...etc. The portions are enormous and there is always leftovers for me (which is shocking as I can put down some food). If you have never seen their menu, it can be overwhelming. It does change from time to time too. I usually have good success with the food, though sometimes, it has not been great. But that is not the norm. The wings come in a variety of sauces too. I really enjoy the wings and those are my go-to My favorites are the char-grilled wings with Fat Head's Original Sauce or Beasty Barbecue.
Overall, if you are on the South Side, Fat Head's is a great stop. It can get extremely crowded around dinner time and lunch time. They do not take reservations, so wait times can be lengthy. If you have some place to go after you eat , this may not be the place to choose. The bar area is an option, but this area gets crowded as well. The service behind the bar is always fast and efficient. The bartenders see you, trust me they do and they will get to you quickly. If you have questions, please ask them, they know their stuff.
