| - I waited to write this review, so that I could be fair and balanced. This is not intended to be a smear review, however I do feel I need to let other potential customers know how this salon operates. This was not my first visit to this salon, I had had my hair highlighted by Lou twice and was always pleased with the results. However, on my last appointment (which I scheduled 3 months in advanced) I was told by Mary (owner of salon) that Lou was on vacation, and that Sandra would be touching up my highlights. I was a bit hesitant at first, by was reassured by Mary that Sandra had done several clients hair, and that she was given positive reviews from the clients regarding her work. The appointment started out by Mary leaving to go get product for my highlights, and Sandra washed and cut my hair first. Ok, that was a first for me to be washed and cut before color was put on, but I figured Sandra knew what she was doing. Second red flag! When Mary returned, she gave Sandra a plastic highlighting cap, and she proceeded to use a hook to pull my hair through these tiny holes. Now, my hair is mid length, and it was really painful. I asked Sandra if she know how to foil and if she was confident in doing so, and that I would prefer that method. Of course she said "Yes!" Once the product had processed, I was washed again and ready to be styled. When I looked in the mirror I was horrified!! My hair, which had caramel and golden beige blonde highlights had bleach white stripes throughout the whole head, with my roots completely showing around my hair line. Sandra immediately began applying toner, while Mary sauntered around the salon ignoring what was going on with my head. Once I got Mary's attention, I asked her if she had client cards that most salons keep on revisiting clients and she told me Lou took mine. She suggested that I pick a darker color to go over the hot mess on my head. I again, this time more firm asked Sandra if she was comfortable and knew what she was doing. Again, she replied "Yes!" Well she didn't. After my hair had processed for the second time, and was washed I was looking at brassy orange yellowish hair with scattered streaks of white that were breaking off mid length when I touched my hair. At this point I was visibility upset (my appointment was at 11:00 A.M. and now its 8:00 P.M.) When I confronted Mary again, I asked why she couldn't call Lou for my color card. She then told me Lou was in Asia and he never made a client card for me. Not what she told me earlier, she said Lou took my client card with him. I then asked her to see the product Sandra used on me, because Sandra had mentioned earlier that she had used bleach to highlight my hair. After about 5 minutes of BS form both of them on how they couldn't find the box in the garbage, Mary called a senior stylist from another salon, and said he would be able to look at my hair on Monday and try to correct it in some way.
When I returned on Monday, I was approached by Mary and was told what a huge inconvenience this was for her, (I had to cancel my daughter's birthday party because of this) and that she called the labor board and that she could refuse service to me. Now, if I'm not mistaken the labor board is for employees and employers. Anyway, after the senior stylist arrived (who is wonderful) he began to do his best. While the senior stylist was working on me, Mary had also brought in her account representative in that supplies her product for the salon, and she was teaching Sandra how to use their product. Really!! Towards the end of my appointment, my husband stopped by to see how I was doing. Mary, then stepped outside with my husband and began telling him, how she just wanted to make me happy, and that my hair was not really not that bad. My husband looked at her and said, " I don't know much about women's hair, but my wife's hair is jacked up, and has never looked like that before." My husband then said he wanted to pay for my services and asked how much was it. Mary told him $100.00 (I have been paying $60.00 which was what Mary had told me each visit in the past) My husband then said before paying that he wanted to check with me first and Mary immediately changed her response to $60.00.
Now, my husband and I both own our own companies, and I know if I ever treated any of my clients the way I was treated and made to feel like this was my fault as well as a inconvenience, I would not have any clients. I guess that explains why this salon always needs to run specials and never has any people in there.
Mary, has no integrity and very poor business ethics. On top of her lies( which she told me several) she should also realize, it is up to her to know what her employees should and should not do, and what skills they are capable of. Just trying to throw any employee at a client to make a buck wont keep clients coming back.
