| - I am a westside guy but recently (90) days began working on the eastside of the Las Vegas valley. We are alloted 30 minutes for lunch so 95% of the time I just have a salad on-site. But, today was a warm, sunny day in Las Vegas and I decided to follow up on one of my Yelp bookmarks.
Since I am unfamiliar with this area, I had missed seeing this location as it is in a very small strip mall off Sahara about 200 yards. Just as I was studiously peering to my right I noticed a nice, bright but crude yellow sign with arrows sort of pointing west on Sahara versus into the strip mall behind the sign.
I took a couple of photos of the exterior. I guess it is in partnership with a German restaurant next door and I liked the "dive" look from the outside. Once you open the door you are pleasantly surprised with appropriate decorum of an authentic German eatery.
There was no one behind the counter and the sign indicated that in the evening you were supposed to go next door. Well, not sure if it was because of this holiday week, but there was only one waitress working both sides and as I meandered to the other side and then she saw me and came back over to take my order.
I ordered up a Chicago hot dog and a Chili/cheese dog plus a diet coke. Total came to about $8 and some change. A $2 tip and you have an average cost for an informal meal.
As I was the first patron, a second patron came in and sat two stools down. We both studied our gizmo smart phones but as the minutes passed, I reassured him that I had the same similar delay in the ordering process.
The dogs arrived about 8 minutes later and I was not disappointed. I am not a hot dog aficionado as any hot dog I have had in the last 5 years is at Costco, but these were noticeably gourmet and legit. In fact, I thought they were delish. The buns were not too fancy but not afterthoughts either.
If you are in the neighborhood of Maryland Parkway and Sahara, I would highly recommend this place. If you only have 30 minutes for lunch I would recommend calling your order in and making it "to-go".
