Well after many attempts to try this well known establishment we finally made it. Not to shabby but do have some complaints. At first, service was impeccable. But then, we were left for long periods of time and I had to go without coffee a couple of times and had to resort to the ice water to wash my food down messing up the flavor ratio that I was enjoying with the coffee. Anywho, we went during restaurant week and did order from that menu. We both had the same thing which was the iceberg lettuce wedge with the homemade blue cheese dressing for what was considered the first course and then the 8 oz filet with the horseradish mashed potatoes and sautéed green beans for the second course and finally the bananas foster bread pudding with caramel sauce and vanilla bean ice cream. The wedge was o.k. as the homemade blue cheese dressing wasn't any better than what I could make at home. Hence "Homemade" I assume. The filets we order well-done and have had disastrous results at other places but there have been a few that actually know how to cook a well-done steak and not let it become dry and disgusting. This wasn't one of those places, or at least not when we went. We found that the cook had gashed opened our filets to see if they were in fact well-done and anyone who knows anything about cooking steak will agree that the last thing one should do is cut into a freshly cooked steak as it will lose most of the juices. This is exactly what occurred here. What a shame too. The sautéed green beans where very crunchy and could have stayed in the pan a bit longer. The mashed potatoes were more than likely the best thing about the whole meal. I really cannot think of a thing wrong with them other than there could have been more of them. They were very good. And last but not least, The bread pudding. I wouldn't order this again as it came out room temp. and the first bite had me at "a little stale". It could, and should, have been much better. Especially for the type of place this is supposed to be. What time the waitress did spend with us, she was warm and welcoming plus very helpful in answering all our questions. We will have to come and give them another chance after all the fuss and muss of this restaurant week passes. Maybe when it is a time that they are not offering specials so we can see if there is a difference in the regular menu food and service as opposed to the price you pay for the specials. Is it one of those times when you get what you pay for?
