| - I don't really know where to begin to explain what a wonderful place Anami Montessori is. I have two children attending there, one in each primary class, and couldn't be happier with the school. My children are growing exponentially because of their experiences there. When I think of why I really love Anami, it boils down to two main areas: a sense of community and how my kids are learning and growing. First, there is not a teacher or staff member there who doesn't care about my kids, as individuals, not just part of some mass of students who are all treated the same. I am 100% comfortable with any staff member there and know that each and every one has my kids' best interests at heart. They are all accessible, and I feel like I have a personal relationship with each one, including the director. In a real community all the members care about the community and its members, and this is apparent in the Anami community. As far as my kids' education, it doesn't get any better than this. What could be better than having a child who is motivated to learn because (s)he has the opportunity to guide that process, as well as a sense of ownership over the work being done? Where else would the teacher have a deep sense of my child's strengths and areas for growth, which is evident in the way his work is guided and communicated directly to me in conferences and any talks with that teacher? Where else is the learning process guided by a deep respect for the growth and development of each individual child? My child doesn't just learn math by rote memorization, he learns the concepts behind math. As a result, he can do math that many children several years older than him cannot. He understands how it works. But my children are not just learning "school stuff," they're learning how to be a member of a community, small like the school and larger like their home community. They're learning to relate to and respect others and to take time to connect with people, including younger and older peers. They have the opportunity to be leaders and followers. My kids are learning to love learning and care about others. What is more powerful than that? You couldn't find a better place to send your kids to school.
