  • Really impressed by the breadth and variety of the plants they carry at the nursery. I also really liked Mike who provides excellent customer service and seems to have great knowledge on almost everything related to the plants and trees. Everything went well up until the installation day. After that, all downhill. When they installed my plants, the installers left mounds of dirt dug up all over my yard and did not clean it up. I contacted Mike and he took care of it right away but informed me that they don't remove the dirt they dig up?? Which was odd. I was unhappy about that and Mike just figured it out somehow because the dirt was gone. But now I have come to find out that most of the plants do not even have proper irrigation running to them (hence why they look so bad already). I spent a very large amount of money with Moon Valley (over $4,000). A good chunk of that was paying pretty pricey installation costs for all these plants and I would just think that for all that money they could figure out how to make sure there is drip to all the plants before leaving and remove any dirt they dig up (which they did take care of but apparently is not normal procedure). In reality I have to pay my landscaper significantly to come back and check Moon Valley's work and setup the irrigation properly and timer. My landscaper also advised me that some of these trees need to be staked so they do not blow over. Moon Valley installers did not do this and did not mention to me anything about that either. I think I would be less upset about this if they had just told me when they installed the plants that there was no water going to them and the things I needed to do to take care of them. I"m not a landscaper and I don't have a green thumb. I would think those installers do and they could communicate a bit better. After having my landscaper out twice, I've just spent so much time and extra money on this, it would've been FAR cheaper to just have the landscaper do the whole thing. So I guess I feel like I overpaid and was cheated a little bit. I wish they'd just tell you up front that they basically shove the plants in the ground and leave and that's it. That is literally what they do. If they had said that up front, I'd have been fine hiring a landscape service to handle it and pick up the plants and I'm certain I'd have spent hundreds of dollars less in the end. So I'd say use them but find a professional landscape service to handle picking up your plants and installing them. Definitely do not use them to do it.
