| - With what I imagine to many New Years Resolutions related to getting back into shape, I wanted to say a word about The Adelaide Club, which is the place I credit with getting me to care about fitness enough to stick with it consistently in the first place. Before that it was a long list of stop and starts at other facilities.
Much of the rest of this list (of gyms, that this review is a part of) would not have been possible without the staff, facilities, and members of the Adelaide Club. I was a member for a year and a half, made affordable through either my law firm or the young members discount.
Facilities are beautiful. Squash culture is alive and well. There is always room to lift weights. There is a separate women's training area if you care about that. It is the only place I've joined in which I felt comfortable just lounging around watching their big screen tv or the TV in the changeroom for an hour after showering and finishing up, or before my workout.
Many of the same trainers and personalities are still working there since I left 5-6 years ago, and that speaks to the quality of the work environment there. Garth, who is a great salesperson no doubt, is also an awesome guy to get to know, and it would be hard not to join after talking to him. At least give it a try and ask for a guest pass from him, I'm sure (after taking a tour) he would be happy to oblige.
