Here's a supermarket that made me do a double-take.
When I was out visiting friends this past weekend in North York, we drove across this Valu-Mart, located just up the road from Bayview Village mall. I didn't even think Valu-Mart existed outside Etobicoke, and that's only because my only memory of the place was that it was slightly run-down and sporting that "Knob Hill Farms" vibe that I remember from the 90s.
I ended up making a run in here to grab some shaving supplies in absence of a nearby Dollarama, and found the venue to be clean and well-stocked. If there is a downside to this place, it's that the prices are expensive as others have mentioned. Is it so difficult to get a pack of razors that doesn't cost $9 or more? Where are the sales? You don't sell travel-size items?
I understand that this more of a "local-type business", and as such, they offer slightly higher prices, but they would do well to compete with some of the bigger chains a bit more. The service was friendly enough, and I was reminded that this is a trait that is often overlooked at many grocery stores.
This Valu-Mart is a decent stop if you need something quick.
