  • Absolutely fantastic food. One of the only few restaurants that leaves me speechless during every bite. The workers there are very friendly and are more than happy to explain the large menu and offer you recommendations. On the rare occasion when they're not as busy, you'll receive a more standard waiter-style service. Our host seated us at our booth after order, checked up on us from time to time, and refilled our waters. However, expect to fill up your own water and retrieve your own plates and utensils during peak times. My go-to's are always the baked empanadas, a pollo sandwich, and the alfajores for dessert. The empanadas are freshly made, amazing, and have a different filling each day. They feature three main fillings - a veggie, beef, and chicken (sometimes pork) option. The fillings are intricately crafted and the flavors mesh incredibly well. Pair these with any of their god-tier signature sauces and you'll be swimming through a sea of flavors. Get these for sure. The Pollo sandwich is large yet inexpensive, and full of flavor, just like everything else on the menu. The grilled ciabatta bread is crispy and robust, the perfect bread to almost contain the overflowing scrumptious contents of this hefty sandwich - caramelized onions, mashed rosemary potatoes, grilled mushrooms, and the thick cut of chicken breast. The chicken itself is marinated in their legendary Ajo garlic sauce (my personal favorite). Cut the sandwich in half, scoop on some sauces before each bite, and you'll wish the sandwich never ends. Their steaks and steak sandwiches are out of this world as well. Generally cooked to a medium with an amazing wood fire chear and sear, topped with their chimmi sauce. Hands down the best steak I've ever had. Lastly, the Alfajores....on their website they have kind of a stale description (flavored shortbread with dulce de leche & toasted coconut) but the Alfajores are so much more than that. The shortbread on these cookies are unlike anything I've ever had before. The Alfajores are a tiny cookie sandwich rimmed with the toasted coconut. The cookie is unbelievably soft and the dulce de leche is the perfect choice to hold these two soft pillowy shortbread cookies together. Each bite is an otherworldly experience. The sauces are essential with every meal at Gaucho and can be paired with whatever is in front of you (except maybe the Alfajores - I'll try that next time). So, I will attempt to do my best to describe the four... Ajo - My favorite sauce, pairs well with everything on the menu. Has a robust garlicy and rosemary flavor. Scoop this on everything. Chimmi - Fantastic on steaks and the chicken, a bit more watery than the other 3 heavenly sauces but the herbs and flavors of this one keeps me coming back. Pimenton - Has a slight vinegary tang, but the strong fire roasted pepper comes through in this one, with a hint of freshly ground black peppercorn. Great on any of the empanadas Cebolla - Amazing balance of flavors featuring caramelized onions that have been slow roasted and melded into this amazing concoction. Great on everything as well. I'd be more than happy waiting 2 hours in line to just grab a single empanada from Gaucho. This place deserves nothing less than 5 stars, and it shows in their quality, preparation, and flavors of their food.
