Well Paul's jury is still out on this place....I've only worked out a few times since I joined, but that is about to change.
The Pro's:
It's NEW with NEW equipment!
It's 3.8 minutes from my house!
It's relatively CHEAP!
It's Open 24/7
They have a bottle filling water cooler! (WAY cool)
The Con's:
Staff seems untrained - I'm used to a staff that has people who are very knowledgable about working out and eager to help out. I haven't seen that here. In fact, there are a couple of really "heavy" folks working here.....not that there's anything at all wrong with that....but it doesn't send out the best message.....if you know what I mean.
Not too sure on this "lunk alarm" and "no grunting" policy. I mean, am I supposed to quit breathing too? I get the whole "be respectful" and don't moan like a loud, caged animal when working out. BUT, if you're lifing anything resembling "heavy" weights for your size, then I'm sorry, you ARE GOING to grunt just a tad! I feel like the Planet Fitness Gestapo are looking at me when I'm doing free weights.....just ready to POUNCE on me for breathing too hard!!!
Also, NO preacher curl bench nor machine EXCEPT in their 30 Minute express area.....which by the you can NOT enter nor use UNLESS you are doing that 30 minute workout. WTF? OK, I get that there is a system....but why not put the "crappy" stuff in there and the good stuff (at least the preacher curl machine) on the main floor?
I will come back to revisit later this summer. But for now, it's just A-OK. I'll see what kind of results I get and re-opine.
