| - My TASTE OF TORONTO 2016 Review:
Atmosphere: 9/10
Lots of room, not over crowded. People were nice and friendly. Very clean, and lots of garbage bins. Needed a bit more shade areas, and could have even fit more seats.
Service: 8/10
Not everyone seemed happy to be working there, but most were enthusiastic. The lineups were short and fast though, much better than 2015.
Food Options: 9/10
There were a couple of places from last year I wish were there, but overall, the choices of food, drinks, and shops were actually quite great. The prices however seemed higher than the previous year.
And the Nespresso was free, and plenty of other free samples of foods, snacks, drinks, etc.
The dishes I had, ranked from first to last:
1) Crispy Calamari Po-Boy (The McEwan Group)
It's really hard to find good Po-Boy these days, or even Po-Boy at all. This was definitely one of the BEST I've ever had. Absolutely delicious, and perfect texture. mmm.
2) True North Salmon Fried Rice (The Drake)
Up until now, my favourite salmon-fried rice was a place in the Markham/Richmond Hill area called "Go For Tea"...but this definitely took the cake. Every ingredient was well thought out, and complimented the dish perfectly.
3) Babi Guling - aka Pork Salad (Little Sister)
I don't think I've had Indonesian before...but this has now made it a priority. The presentation was very appetizing, and the taste was perfection. There were a couple bites of the pork that felt a little TOO crispy, but easily forgivable because of the taste.
4) Aburi Osha Sushi (Miku Restaurant)
Perfectly torched Salmon and Ebi sushi. The Ebi stood out more in flavour, but it was an excellent pair regardless.
5) Ricotta Gnudi (The McEwan Group)
Delicious, and perfectly prepared gnudi. The lamb ragout was a nice compliment to the entire dish.
6) Green Tea Opera and Yuzunade (Miku Restaurant)
It was basically a very delicious mouse-cake but super tiny. The $6 price on this is absolutely ridiculous, which is I guess why they pair it with a Yuzunade which is an interesting take on a lemonade type drink...except with a little bit of zing. Good dish...just not entirely worth it.
7) Watermelon Salad w/Feta (Carver)
Very mixed feelings about this. Ofcourse the watermelon and feta was delicious and complimented well with the mint. But I wasn't a fan of the capers, DEFINITELY not a fan of the grape tomatoes, and not sure about the black olives.
8) State Fair Corn Dog (Barque)
The pictures, and the display they had setup was leagues above the dish that I received. Not a lot of heart put into my corn dog, which is surprising coming from Barque.
...and the Watermelon Wheat beer you may have seen in my previous photos was absolutely delicious.
