| - I hadn't been to Lawry's since my las pt visit to the Beverly Hills location 15 years ago. Although I really enjoyed my visit that time, I never really think about this place when I think special occasion, since prime rib is so easy to make at home. However, this past Xmas, my wife convinced me that the little one would probably do better here than at te steakhouse I had reserved for us...so of course we ate here!
Well, she was right. The Xmas decor was quite festive, and with the unprecedented cold spell in Vegas, it really felt like Xmas. We were lucky enough to come by on a night that they had carolers! This really added to the ambience, as they were quite good and very accommodating with our requests (I seriously did not expect them to be able to sing Riu Riu Chiu!)
The food was just as good as I remembered it...the prime rib juicy and wonderfully tender. It tasted all the better because I saved twelve dollars and did not get suckered into ordering the Diamond Jim Brady cut! I remembered my buyer's remorse on my past visit when I saw that my more expensive order still resulted in the same size cut of beef as the standard Lawry's cut...I snickered as I saw this again to be the case!
Anyways, the food was wonderful, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The only thing that kept me from giving five stars was the distracted service. Our waiter only made sporadic cameos to our table...we had to ask other servers for our missing horseradish sauce, bread, and drink refills. Nevertheless, we had a wonderful evening and lovely holiday memory. Well worth coming back for!
