| - I would really, really like to give Matt's more stars, but this place just doesn't do it for me (and trust me - I've been back three times in hopes of a better experience!).
Ambiance: Great! Trendy and modern, and the Marina Heights scenery is GORGEOUS! But...I wish they utilized the space a bit better. We're in the peak of patio/outdoor seating in Phoenix, and Matt's enormous patio continues to go unused with no tables or outdoor seating options!
Food: Standard. It's really good, simple fare. But...I could make it in my own kitchen (that's how simple it is). They use fresh ingredients that are sustainably sourced, so I have peace of mind there, but the menu is limited, and again - I could make lots of what they serve at home in under ten minutes.
Service: ...wish it was better. It's not that the servers are rude (and again, we've been three times, so I've seen a decent sample of what's to offer), but they don't always feel the most hospitable. I've gone long lengths of time with an empty water glass or coffee cup, and find myself flagging down waitstaff to add items to my tab. I've seen food delivered to the wrong table multiple times, and overall, just don't see the service team working well together.
So, the wrap-up is that this is a great place to try if you're not on a budget and are in the mood for a simple, no-frills breakfast meal. Expect to wait a little, spend a bit, and walk away satisfied but not blown away. Could be a great place to stop if you're taking a stroll on ASU's Tempe Campus or in the Marina Heights neighborhood and are wanting a bite!
