Not quite sure what has happened, but avoid this auto repair shop at all costs. I had an incredibly rude experience today to get a simple headlight and taillight bulbs fixed. They said they'd diagnose the problem, call me back within the hour with an estimate, and confirm work authorization. They promised no work would begin and no payment would be expected until the estimate was confirmed and permission was granted.
A couple of minutes after leaving, I realized both my friend and I both had prior engagements, so we'd need our cars simultaneously. My friend called back and spoke with Jim, telling him that we were sorry for the quick change in plans and needed the car back. We assured them that we'd be back soon after the following week to get the fix, and asked them not to touch the car today. Jim assured us that that wasn't a problem and he'd tell the workers to not work on the car.
Once we arrive, however, I went in to pick up the keys so that I could rush to my appointment; only to find Victor EXTREMELY ANGRY and annoyed. He said that even before receiving permission for the work authorization, the workers went ahead and changed the bulbs and then demanded $14.73. I tried to explain that I didn't want it nor had time, as he fumingly slammed on the computer keys. I felt intimidated, unsafe, and scared: On the brink of tears, I just paid and took my friend's car instead to leave such a hostile place.
My friend then had to wait an additional 14 minutes because---though they claimed the car was fixed and it was too late to stop work--they didn't actually have the rear blinker's bulb. After 14 minutes, Victor magically "found" the bulb and the work then was completed.
My friend went in to state how unprofessional and intimidating these older men were with a young girl. While waiting, a salesperson from the neighboring O'Reilly's Auto Parts came in with a two-pack of the bulbs saying "Victor said some customer needed these rushed all of a sudden." After arguing and ignoring with my friend, Victor willingly refunded the amount charged. But, that won't compensate for the terrible experience, rude workers, and unprofessionalism.
If they promise to get work authorization BEFORE starting repairs, they shouldn't be surprised when customers aren't happy that they'd not only start work without permission, but also demand payment before even finishing!
