| - I have relocated to the Tempe area and need to find a more convenient place for my pedicures. This looked good on paper (or in this case, Yelp) but I was sadly disappointed.
First, let me state that the people were all very friendly and welcoming, and even though I had no appointment on a Friday afternoon, I was seated very quickly. The atmosphere was pleasant and conditions seemed clean.
My problem is that I am used to a quality pedicure that takes my tough teacher-life beating (on my feet all day, every day, often in sandals). I try to maintain my feet between visits, but delight in a good soak, callous removal and massage. Even with all the wear and tear, my polish and designs easily last three weeks. Not so with this pedicure. I did absolutely nothing different, and within a week, my polish showed wear. I wasn't offered a design, though I would have paid for one, and my feet felt rough about three days after this visit. The treatments were okay, and the technician was pleasant; however, the "massage" portion of the pedicure (I got the deluxe.) was rather mundane - and that is what I live for on a Friday afternoon after a l-o-n-g week.
My second issue was with face and brow waxing, I won't go into detail, but my rather thick brows now have to grow out in order to reshape them, some areas were still too thick, and the face waxing has not lasted long at all. I attribute some of the inefficiency to the fact that the table for the esthetic procedures was against a wall and the technician had to work from one side. I also wondered if I had gotten a less-experienced person by default, since it seemed some of the other technicians were with those who appeared to be "regulars".
While the cost was not astronomical, it was still higher than I have been paying the past three years for quite a bit better results.
I am sure this is just a fluke, given the other great reviews; perhaps one day I'll give Riley's another try.
