| - This store is hard for me to really make up my mind about. On one side, the Giant Eagle near me is terrible--making this the only decent grocery store nearby. For the most part, the shopping part is fine. The produce is usually in good shape. They've got most things I need. The meat counter is better than Giant Eagle. From the second I grab my cart to the second I pay for my groceries, everything is just fine here.
Unfortunately, it's the other stuff that drives me crazy about this place.
1. The parking lot. Whoever designed this parking lot must have had a hell of a sense of humor, because parking here is a bigger pain in the ass than parking should ever be. Sure, they're busy a lot, so during peak time you may have to park far from the door. That I get. Unfortunately, every aisle is one-way (and it's never the way that makes sense). So you've got to drive in loops and wait behind people getting their groceries loaded up just to get out of the damn place.
2. I can't take my cart out to my car. Which leaves 2 choices. Throw my damn back out carrying a week's worth of groceries or wait in a line to have them loaded in to my car. Both of those choices suck, if you didn't pick up on it.
3. It's a bare minimum 15 minutes to check out no matter how much you're buying. There's an express lane, but it doesn't seem to go any faster than any of the others. And they've avoided joining the 21st century by somehow having no self-checkout lanes.
The groceries provided here are fine. The people are helpful and nice. Overall, it's the lesser of 2 evils in the Lakewood/Rocky River area for groceries. But, as a guy who moved recently from Columbus, I'd kill for a Kroger in the area.
