| - The ER is a $10,000.00 NIGHTMARE! Seriously. My bill was $10,000 for NOTHING. I went into this facility suffering from a chronic intestinal issue just hours before I was scheduled to leave the country on an international trip. Unable to see my primary physician on such short notice, I opted to go to this hell hole and received APPALLING CARE!!! As a longtime resident of Las Vegas, I am appalled. I have travelled extensively around the world, including many third world countries and this hospital shames even the WORST OF THIRD WORLD MEDICAL FACILITIES! First of all, their prolific ad campaign touting short ER wait times is completely false and misleading. They cleverly cut their wait times by putting patients into an ASSEMBLY LINE for medical care. Patients begin their care quickly with the admitting process and are then herded back into the waiting room (which resembles a scene from a disaster movie). Thereafter, patients are herded in and out of different steps in their diagnosis. This process TAKES HOURS! When I was finally herded into a triage area for care, I found myself in a tiny, blood-spattered (that's right BLOOD SPATTERED) compartment separated only my curtains from the other patients around me. If this was truly a mass casualty event, I would have been okay with it. But this was just a normal day of the week. I could hear everything going on with patients around me. Waited a good 30 minutes before a doctor appeared in my little curtain cubicle. I told him exactly what was going on (suffering from a chronic condition, i have a pretty good idea what to look for). The doctor spent about a minute and was gone. They took some blood and I waited another 30 minutes. I was then escorted out of the triage area and sent over to another desk to process my release. I was then informed that there was nothing wrong with me and that I could go home. Nothing wrong??? With my flight missed and my trip postponed, I went to my regular physician the next day. I had an intestinal infection and went on antibiotic for the next 2 weeks.
30 days later I began receiving my bills. 5 of them! The total between them? More than $10,000.00!! There were tests I didn't authorize and a visit that resulted in NO TREATMENT FOR AN INTESTINAL INFECTION! Unbelievable. Upon receiving the bills I contacted the hospital and argued with them, but to no avail. Their "review" yielded the expected result: everything was in order.
This medical facility needs to be shut down. $10,000.00 for THIS??? Really?? This is what is wrong with healthcare in America today. It's outrageous. It's a complete fraud. Their violations of medical protocol and patient privacy are unparalleled.
