After 14 years in Charlotte we decided to try it. The reviews were inconsistent so we figured we would judge for ourselves.
In summary it was a sh$& show. 2 stars was generous.
I don't want to go into all the gory details so here is the quick and dirty version.
Ambiance - road motel meets gas station meets bonanza. It was so cheesy that they spray paint their bulbs to a red dim light rather then spending an extra .$15 for a colored bulb.
Service - horrible. I've had much better and attentive service at fast food joints. Water refill asked 5 Times.; Wine-Delivered wrong bottle; clean plates-had to beg other wait staff to address. Pathetic.
Food - meh. Crackers with weird cheese scooped with an ice cream scooper. Onion Soup was a solid 3-stars. The salad was very strange even though the blue cheese dressing was good and the veggies were fresh - it was presented in a weird cafeteria style help yourself mode. However that was probably the highlight of the food. The steaks were a choice cut and were fairly bland. We certainly did not feel they warranted the $45 price even though that included a side and the cafeteria style salad. We opted for the apple pie with ice cream and that was edible but certainly not memorable.
Miscellaneous- you get bread after your meal entree arrives which is the first time in over 35 years of dining that I had seen that. The bread itself isn't traditional rolls or bread but very thin and garlicky toast which we were not fans of. The glassware and stemware was of the cheapest quality. The knives, forks and spoons appeared to almost bend by look alone. Glassware was Walmart.
If you want a cheesy old steakhouse that caters to very "mature " patrons, this is your place. If you want a good steak with phenomenal service try Del Frisco's or Sullivan's.
The 5-star reviews boggle the mind. You have been warned...
We will certainly never be back.
