But what is Thai Massage?
ABOUT THAI MASSAGE
"Thai massage" or "Thai yoga massage" is an ancient healing system combining acupressure, Indian Ayurvedic principles, and assisted yoga postures.
Traditional Thai massage uses no oils or lotions. The recipient remains clothed during a treatment. There is constant body contact between the giver and receiver, but rather than rubbing on muscles, the body is compressed, pulled, stretched and rocked.
The recipient wears loose, comfortable clothing and lies on a mat or firm mattress on the floor. In Thailand, a dozen or so subjects may be receiving massage simultaneously in one large room. The true ancient style of the massage requires that the massage be performed solo with just the giver and receiver. The receiver will be positioned in a variety of yoga-like positions during the course of the massage, that is also combined with deep static and rhythmic pressures.
The massage generally follows designated lines ("sen") in the body. The legs and feet of the giver can be used to position the body or limbs of the recipient. In other positions, hands fix the body, while the feet do the massaging. A full Thai massage session may last two hours and includes rhythmic pressing and stretching of the entire body. This may include pulling fingers, toes, ears, cracking knuckles, walking on the recipient's back, and moving the recipient's body into many different positions.
There is a standard procedure and rhythm to the massage, which the giver will adjust to fit the receiver.
BACKGROUND
I first started receiving Thai Massage 20 years ago. I love Thai massage because I think with a good practitioner an in depth result can occur.
I say that to illuminate that I don't take this topic lightly.
I had been going to a woman for years, who wound up moving, and I needed to find another location, which led me to Thai Royal Massage Spa.
THAI ROYAL MASSAGE SPA
Thai Royal Massage & Spa is proud to offer the best Thai Massage in Arizona. They have two locations: one in North Scottsdale and one in Chandler.
I have only been the one in Chandler, across from the Chandler mall.
THE STORY & SERVICE EXPERIENCE
I had been looking for a new Thai masseuse and tried Thai Royal Massage Spa.
It's in a strip mall, which is not the normal kind of place I'd normally go, but the place looked cute, and I went inside to check it out.
The inside was clean and calming, and I felt comfortable.
The owner, who is there every time I've been there, is VERY meticulous about her establishment. She set me up with Dominic, who I've subsequently seen every time I've been.
There was a locker area for my things and a changing room, where I changed into loose fitting scrubs, they provided.
Once changed, I was led into the massage room, which has a calming waterfall and about 10 beds.
Dominic first washed my feet and then got started with the massage.
I enjoy a massage as deep as I can tolerate. I like it when he goes deep and get all my knots out. But, I'm also a physician, and not at all shy about telling the masseuse when he's going to far.
Today, I had the 90 minute Thai Massage with Dominic, my favorite!
Dominic is not afraid to pounce on me and he's got a second sense when it comes to finding all of my stuck areas.
Today, my right scapula and a couple of my left ribs where they attach at the thoracic spine were stuck, my pelvis was out of line, and my right gastrocnemius was all knotted. I didn't have to tell Dominic, he found all of my "spots" with his fingers and sorted me out.
CONCLUSION
As a regular of Thai Massage, I love coming to Thai Royal Massage Spa.
I'm glad I found this location and I will definitely continue coming back.
