  • How does one review Sammy's? On the surface it may not seem like much. It's a small bar, tucked behind the Carolina Place Mall with free pool and karaoke on Tuesday nights. Once you go inside it not only looks 3 times bigger, but feels exponentially more like home than a bar. This is the quintessential "Cheers" bar for many South Charlotte and Pineville residents. Not everybody at Sammy's is a regular, but most are. Still if you are new you will be welcomed and offered a drink by one of the fun and friendly staff that everyone knows by name. During football season Sammy's is packed on Sundays and all year Friday and Saturday nights find the parking lot full. Sammy's reminds me of a dysfunctional family reunion, you don't necessarily like everyone, but you gotta love them. "Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name..."
