I was just in Arizona visiting my Mom and Grandma with a couple of visits with old friends in between. I stayed with my Grandma at her condo and was able to take on and accomplish many business and household matters for her as we are very close and she is turning 90 this year.
Grandma has glaucoma and the real kind, not the cannabis seeking kind. She also has macular degeneration. The ophthalmologist deals with the glaucoma, the retinologist deals with the macular. I liked Dr. G. and I liked his staff. What I didn't like was that we were called the day before to ask if we could change our 3:30 appointment to a 2:15 appointment and since I was in town, it wasn't an issue. We arrived at 2:10 and weren't called back till 2:45. After Grandma had to do the "can you read the letter tests" and had her eyes dilated, had to sit in yet another waiting room to be seen by the actual doctor around 3:50pm. Grandma was seen for a few minutes, some fears quelled and luckily, she won't have to be seen by him again till May. We left at 4:15 after making the next appointment, but even for the Sun City crowd (retired is what I am getting at here), the total time seen by the med assistant and the doctor totaled about 25 minutes. The rest of the time was spent waiting and anyone dealing with the elderly (or small child) should know that waiting is not the easiest thing to do.
This is a very busy office and don't get me started on the parking lot situation with lack of ramps for walkers or lack of handicapped parking spots.
