I visited the Abbot to hook up with a small group of friends for a drink. The decor here is classic pub style. It was a little empty on a Saturday afternoon and the staff was quick to have us seated and noticing the rest of group drift in over the next hour. No one had to to wait for the first drink and the attentiveness during our multi hour visit was stellar. We weren't being particularly experimental that day on the beer side so I can only say they had everything we wanted. The food was a bit pleasant of surprise as it was of the gastro pub variety. I had the brisket which was quite good but felt just a little short on execution. My wife had the pork schnitzel and again was good but not outstanding. The presentation was also extremely good.
I would absolutely go back and would recommend. It may not quite hit the gastro pub expectations but is still head and shoulders above regular pub fare. The exceptionally attentive service also helps nail a solid four in my books.
