  • Whole wheat rotis were good, but staff were condescending and sarcastic. I went here for a special "new year's 2009" celebration with my visiting family, but unbeknownst to us, they had not had any other reservations for this event than ours, and the other people who were in the restaurant had just walked in, and left before new year's! When I told the staff that we had specifically come to Tabla, a new restaurant for us, for the celebration, and were very disappointed to spend it a restaurant with few other people and no countdown or group acknowledgement of the new year, one staff member sarcastically remarked that I should have been happy to spend my new year's with my family and did a mock countdown and laughed at me. We were disgusted at the misinformation, and finally the meanness that ended our night. The food was standard indian restaurant in the west fare- most dishes were too creamy for us, but the whole wheat rotis were very good and the short belly dance performance was a good concept. Since it's a wine bar we asked for help in selecting a wine, but were unenthusiastically told, "it depends on what you like" We highly recommend North of Bombay or Banjara over this restaurant a thousand times for any occasion!
