  • I am happy to share my opinions and recollection of my previous experience with Mesa Verde Property Management in Mesa, Arizona. Steve and Rene, owners/ operators of Mesa Verde Property Management managed my home in Mesa, Arizona for almost 3 years. During this time I had numerous situations that drove me to fire primarily Rene, but generally the entire family and Mesa Verde Property Management. Rene had her minor child pick a few weeds out of my front yard, not requested and unauthorized, and then billed me. Seems a little unscrupulous to say the least. Upon the initial hiring of Mesa Verde, I provided a master key for the entire house. This master key would provide the means to re-key the property at minimal to no charge. Steve acknowledge receipt in writing of this master key. Subsequently, when the property needed to be re-key, the key was lost. Rene & Steve did all but accuse me of outright lying about giving them the master key. Until, I provided the email and proof in the contract of such. Even then, Steve wanted to split the out of pocket cost 50/50. 100% Mesa Verde's cause but, they were only willing to except 50% of the responsibility. This is the perfect example of how they run this small mom and pops organization. Steve spent a very brief time as a republican representative of the state of Arizona. During this time you could rest assured he provided very little time to the business of managing the properties he was hired to manage. Steve and Rene told me that they didn't want any houses to manage if they had to perform any additional task other then collecting rent and sending out 1099's. Steve has a politician's attitude. He says one thing, but does what ever he wants. The two are not correlated. Steve just thinks he is smarter and better then others (especially the renters, but also the owners). Rene, on the other hand has a terrible attitude. I couldn't stand her working for me. That is why I fired them and boy did it feel good. I couldn't even start to image renting from her. Bad, Bad attitude. Pushy, bossy, dishonest, just all around angry personality. Now Tina, the office staff, also a family relative seemed pleasant most of the time. It is too bad that Tina didn't run the business and Rene just got the coffee. On second thought the owners would be better served as retired from the 'people' sector of the workforce. Bottom line, Rene & Steve (Mesa Verde Property management), are in this business to do as little as possible and collect maximum premiums. They are extremely work adverse. Their moral and ethical compasses are completely broken. The arrogants from this unsuccessful management company is bewildering. If you have hired them, give your 30 days notice and terminate that relationship. If you are considering hiring Mesa Verde, don't! I chose to hire another property manager that I have been very happy with. There are now flat rate property managers for $75 flat fee a month as opposed to Mesa Verde who charged me 10%.
