| - My dinner at Good Food on Montford was easily the highlight of my recent trip to Charlotte! I arrived early into their dinner service on a Wednesday evening and, while enjoying a Rosemary Collins on the patio, I watched as the entire dining room filled up before my eyes. Thank you, Yelp, for steering me here; I can tell I'm in the right place!
I sat down to dinner at the bar and ordered three dishes:
- The Pork Bun: a MUST! I could have eaten half a dozen of these succulent little wonders. Sweet, salty, spicy, pillowy - perfection!
- The Korean Beef: a tasty marinade and an elegant presentation made this a close second favorite.
- The Carnitas tacos: enjoyable, but my least favorite of the three dishes. The meat was well-prepared but the whole dish reads a bit dry in the mouth; it was missing something to balance the mouthfeel. A mango salsa would have put it over the top!
The service at the bar was great and I enjoyed my leisurely meal with great relish. You may wish to note: if you are seeking to eat a full meal here, you should plan on about 3 dishes per person. Honestly, I could have gone for four. This puts a meal here squarely in the $$$ category, alcohol notwithstanding. The small plates here would also be great for a drinks-and-appetizers date as opposed to a full dinner.
I had a great experience here and I wouldn't hesitate to return for another special meal when I am back in Charlotte!
