| - Overall, the entire experience was average. I would stay there again if the price was right. The best quality of the resort, by far, was the location. It was close to and within walking distance of most of the attractions we wanted to see. I also found the concierge to be very helpful in helping us navigate the bus system. The biggest downfall, which had a major impact on our experience with the hotel, was the noise. We found that the walls/door were paper thin. You can only expect people to be loud and coming back to their room late/early in the morning while in Vegas. But we could hear EVERYTHING happening in the hallway as if there wasn't even a door there. Therefore it was very difficult to sleep, day or night. This unfortunate issue very much impacted our overall experience with the resort.
Here is a breakdown on a few other things:
The room:
The bed was very comfortable but I thought it was strange that the bed didn't really have a blanket on it? There were also no extra blankets or pillows in the room. The bed had several layers of sheets which were tucked into the bed tightly. The thing that gave off the "age" of the room was that there were no outlets anywhere near the bed, so I couldn't charge my phone near the bed. There was a charging station near the desk. There was also an ipod docking station. As with most Vegas hotel rooms there was no coffee maker or mini fridge. There was a very stocked mini-bar with outrageous prices and an ice bucket--that's about it. The bathroom is very small. The only + about the bathroom was that it was well lit.
Casino/Resort
We didn't gamble, shop or use the pool at the resort at all, so I cannot comment on it. The lobby, hallways, room etc were very clean and well kept. It did not have a strong cigarette smell but you could smell the perfume being pumped into the common areas.
We ate at the buffet (because we had 2 free passes) & we found it to be poor/average. I remember the Luxor's buffet being better quality. We did not eat at any of the other restaurants since they all have sub-par reviews and there were so many excellent restaurants within walking distance at nearby resorts. When we checked in I asked about the Spa/Salon & the staff person gave us a free 1 days pass to enjoy.
Spa/Salon
Very clean, tranquil environment. Our free day pass granted us access to the sauna, steam room, hot/cold tubs, and showers. When my husband and I arrived we found out they had separate spa(s) for women & men--which I found out later was because they are clothing optional. If you stay at the Mirage, I would recommend the Spa! Very relaxing and the staff were excellent.
