| - I participated in the 2 gun competitive shoot tonight at American Shooters Range tonight. I had a great time as always! Kirk, Alex and Grant primarily operate the event and do a great good in keeping it fun, comfortable and safe. If you've never shot competitively and have been looking for the opportunity to bring your "rig" out to actually train with your firearms, this is the place for you locals! I have been religiously engaged with this event for the past year and a half now; and I always look forward to it. The event is every 3rd Thursday of the month (except Dec.) Registration starts at about 6:30 pm and the shoot briefs start at 7:00 pm. It's indoors, so temperature and lighting conditions are controlled. The event requires a rifle and a handgun; multiple magazines; a holster and a light (mounted or handheld). There are 4 courses of fire to negotiate. All testing your skill in either or all of your firearms skills..including low light conditions. There's magazine changes; moving from station to station (safely); shooting from a barricade; standing, kneeling, prone; close quarters; long range; hostage situations and weapons system transitions. Oh...the fun last to 10:00 pm usually, all for $20.00. The courses are timed, scored, totaled and ranked for bragging rights. I've learned so much from all of the different operators and staff. I've made friends here that share my passion for these events. You should try it, you'll enjoy every minute of it if this write up even sounds remotely interesting. I've met operators that were old, young, women, men, whole families and friends. See you there.
