Channeling my inner Paulina Bunyan, I came here with a group of friends to celebrate my bday. I made a reservation for 2 lanes online. The online reservation process is really easy and smooth. You only need to put a deposit down for one person per lane you're renting. You can have up to 8 people in a lane. If you have a group that's 21 people or more, you'll need to call and book your reservation.
The facility itself can be a little tricky to find. It's right next door to Catawba Brewing. The location is small, I thought that it would be bigger than what it was. Because of the unusual change in weather, it was really hot in there. I can only imagine what it'll feel like in there this summer. They do have a small bar with a few beers on tap and they also have an assortment of canned beers and snacks like chips. They do have a hard cider on tap, which is great!
When you arrive, you check in, show your ID and get a bracelet. If you didn't sign the waiver online, you'll have to sign it there. My when it's your turn, they'll escort you to your lane and introduce you to your instructor. Your instructor will share some safety info with yo and they'll show you how to throw the axe. Then you're off to throwing and having a great time. The instructors are at your lane the entire time and they're helpful at giving you throwing pointers and tips.
Lumberjaxe also has a loyalty program. If you give your number everything you come, you'll get points for a free hour in the future.
Overall it was a good time. The hour time slot we had was long enough. It's a great way to celebrate a bday or something else special. I had a good time and will be back in the future.
