| - I used Homespec inspections LLC to inspect our home before purchasing it earlier this year. They were referred to me by my selling agent. At first I was quite impressed with their service. The owner, Nori met me at the property to conduct the inspection. I am pretty handy, but when making a large purchase, especially an older home, it is advisable to seek professional help in determining the condition of the property to know what kind of repairs and upgrades to expect. He seemed quite thorough and his lengthy condition report seemed to cover just about everything. Unfortunately, after purchasing the home I realized how many big things were missed. I ended up having to replace the entire roof after three different roofing contractors all told me that it had less that a years life left in it, and needed to be replaced right away. Full disclosure, I planned on having solar put up, which I made Nori aware of. Regardless, Nori indicated that the roof was "sound in nature" and had "15 to 20 years of life left in it easy"... This was the big thing that he missed, other than that I still have several switches that I have no idea what function they provide, as well as many small insignificant things that I was able to rectify, but were also missed in the inspection. Most upsetting about this entire situation was that when I contacted him regarding the issue his demeanor toward me was much different than during our first meeting. He treated me like the scum of the earth and lied to my agent about not returning his calls (he never called). I've spoken to a lawyer who has confirmed that I have a case, but it will likely take a long time and cost me quite a bit out of pocket before finding resolve. The roof cost me $5300.00 that I had not planned on and really put me in a tough spot. Long and short, I could spend $10,000.00+ on a law suit to eventually win a settlement, but that will be even harder on me. I still may consider going this route just for the sheer principle of the situation. However, at this point I just don't want this to happen to anyone else. I highly recommend choosing a different inspection company to help in the purchase of your home.
