Was pulled from the precheck line for further inspection because of a gift box containing soap bars. Even though their test came back with soap results I was pulled aside and subjected to a full enhanced pat down and screening of all my belongings. I do not understand why I was subjected to a full pat-down when clearly it was the soap that had triggered their system and they confirmed it themselves. So the scenario was like this: We verified it is soap, it is harmless and you are a low risk traveler line but we will go ahead anyway and treat you like a criminal.
I cannot help but wonder if it is because in talking to them one of the superiors detected an accent? Maybe, hopefully not.
The officers were courteous and alleviated my worry to an extent. For that I give each a star. Have to take all the other stars due to the lack of logic in the screening procedure ( soap bars are on the list of accepted carry on items after all) and the real possibility it was done because of being profiled due to my European accent by an overzealous superior.
