| - This is for the nightclub.
First of all, being married to an electro DJ, I've seen my fair share of clubs, and I've never seen a club run from a theater box office window. It's super weird. You can't see the club before they want your $8 cover because its up this cheezy Las Vegas-esque neon escalator and down the hall. When you get inside, you are basically dumped into the kitchen of the restaurant upstairs. It looks really unprofessional, like at 10pm they decided to clear out some tables and turn it into a dance club. I thought I had entered a back alley San Fransisco club...in a bad way.
They don't have a VIP Lounge, VIP bathrooms (are you kidding? One public bathroom for this huge entire upper floor?) or a VIP only bar, and the few bottle service tables they had are not remarkable or in good locations. The general admission crowd will be all over your table since there's no VIP area or staff bouncing the tables. Weird weird weird.
From what I gathered, the "Kazba" at Mez is one of very few places to find electro in Charlotte, so I guess beggars can't be choosers, but I've still never seen a club run so strangely and people being so ok with it. This isn't a crazy Jersey Shore fist pumping club by any means (WAY too boring for that) this is at best a drab attempt at a nighclub. I seriously must be at the wrong venue, is this really the "best" club in Charlotte??? Two bouncers got in a fight right outside Kazba on the balcony (yes they both certainly worked there), they were SCREAMING at each other, and I was pretty sure if a scuffle broke out, I would have been tossed straight over the balcony. Way to keep it classy Mez.
The DJ at Kazba was playing premixed mashups and trying to roll in terrible dubstep to a crowd that has no idea what dubstep is. Whatever this clubs image is supposed to be, its not that, I promise you that much.
I'm officially super dissapointed.
I was expecting a classy, big city club, and I got an overpriced cheezy club with training wheels that needs to get some better staff and some standards. I don't get it, and would only return if I brought my own portapotty. I've never been to a club with only one bathroom and no VIP section. That still baffles me.
