| - This review is strictly on their poker room, nothing else.
The poker room has about 5 tables. Each table has 10 computers on it, with each player sitting down at a computer. Its just like playing regular texas holdem, except there is no dealer. The center of the table is 1 big screen, that displays the cards, shows the name of the other players, and their chip counts.
The Good: Nowhere, and I mean nowhere, in Vegas will you find a casino that offers $5, $10, $18, and $40 tournaments (that last one is $35+$5 bounty, VERY fun). Those $80-$200 tournaments elsewhere really add up. I literally played about 3 tournaments a day, for 4 days straight, and spent less than $250. Yes, 12 tournaments for less than $250. Sorry, but you cant beat it. Are you going to win loads of money? Of course not. However, if you want to play low stakes, and just have good time with fun people (not serious sharks), then this is your place. And did I mention all the free drinks? My drinks alone at a bar would have cost more than my tournament buy ins. So essentially, the poker was free, and the drinks were happy hour priced, if you want to look at it that way.
The bad: 2 reasons why I didnt give this 5 stars, but also didnt give it 3 stars. The one day, they opened up a cash table (which they rarely do, because their tournaments run almost every 2 hours, and fill up all the tables), and the computer on the one table was running very slow. So we got moved to another table. In that process, that table computer completely crashed (when youre running windows 2003, thats bound to happen). Long story short, we sat that for almost 45 minutes, until the floor manager eventually refunded us all our money. So for that, I cant really blame the floor, it wasnt their fault.
Here is what ticked me off however. The one day, a buddy and mine asked the floor if theyd open up a cash table. He said sure, to just wait at table 1, and when more players get knocked out of the tournament, he will start it up. Ok, great. So we're waiting, and 2 more players sit down. Now we're just waiting for the floor to start it up. The floor (1 person works the room mind you) has a long line of people he is dealing with, to start the upcoming tournament. About 30 minutes go by, and I finally go up to him and say "Hey, I understand youre busy, but you mind getting this game started for us"?. His reply "Oh, sorry, but Im going to need that table for a tournament now".... So he essentially kept us waiting there, knowing at least 20 minutes prior, that even though he promised us that table for the cash game, that a game wasnt going to happen. Was a coward move to say the least, and the 4 of us just left.
So aside from that little squirmish, its a nice place to play some low stakes poker. And if they do in fact run their cash games, the stakes are only $0.25/$0.50....and remember, you dont have to tip any dealers. So if you can get a cash game going, do it. Will burn a lot of time, not your wallet.
