  • I could easily be classified as a psychotic perfectionist when it comes to my hair color. One brassy highlight and I'll probably never return. Fortunately, I was directed to Jerri at Planet 21 and could not be more satisfied with the result. This girl is a color rock star. From the second I sat down and she started discussing my options, I knew I could trust her recommendations. My hair was streaky, brassy, and just kind of a mess from all of my tries with other stylists elsewhere. Jerri listened to my concerns, mixed up the bleach/color and went to town. She took extra time to, literally, pick through each section that was being highlighted to put the correct volume of bleach on each strand to ensure a continuous, non-streaky highlight throughout. The prices at Plant 21 are also EXTREMELY reasonable! I was shocked at my total for a full highlight, lowlight, and base lift for my extremely long, extremely thick hair that took roughly 4 hours to complete. In addition to having a fantastic stylist working on my locks, the salon itself is great. It has a very open, lofty feel with fresh flowers everywhere. I also heard a rumor that you can get yourself a mimosa on Saturday mornings! Everyone at the salon is very friendly and extremely stylish. It's seriously like walking into a magazine or something. If I had to say one negative about the salon, it would be the shampoo bowls. They are on some sort of pneumatic system where they move down with the weight of your head. Unfortunately for a giant like myself (5'10") it kind of put me in a weird, uncomfortable position. However, I should note that I can't remember a salon that I've ever been to where I found the shampoo bowls to be comfortable (because I'm a giant). Jerri really is one of the best colorists I've ever been to. Sadly, I am relocating to Atlanta, but am seriously considering making the 4 hour drive back to Charlotte every month to maintain the perfection that has been achieved on my head. It's unfortunate that Becky H. had such a terrible experience, but I would swear on my perfect highlights that it's worth a try!
