  • Experience: This was bookmarked in my YELP and I was in the area. I convinced my friend to stop in and get Togo. Facility: It's a small spot located inside of a strip mall. There were about 10 tables and chairs in the room, and a small ordering counter in the back. Service: The young gal at the counter was super friendly and helpful. She helped me make my selections and even brought me my cornbread to the table while I was waiting, so I could take some medication. I believe it was the owner was at the counter too while I was ordering and she didn't really look my way or act friendly. She seemed like the type that is just so focused on getting the work done, she forgets to stop and smile at the customers. That's fine, as long as she is not rude, and the food is good, I'm not mad at her. LOL! Food: The problem with soul food or southern or BBQ joints, is I want to taste every side dish. So I ordered a bunch. LOL! I got the fried chicken plate with Mac and cheese, greens, fried cabbage, French fries, and red beans. Greedy, huh?? Normally I would order the potato salad, but they let me taste a sample, and it was really sweet and had a distinct flavor I can't place, but is not my style. I like plain old, mayo/mustard/relish/eggs type potato salad. I call it southern style, but not sure the exact name. The cornbread (4/5) was good, with just a bit of sweetness, which I like. We ate the French fries (4/5) while we waited for the rest of the food. They were fresh, hot and pretty good. The chicken 3.5/5 was cooked well, but a tad too salty. The fried cabbage was my favorite 4/5, but the Mac and cheese 3/5, greens 3/5 and red beans 3/5 were just ok. A tad bland. Is it bad to say I like my fried chicken, corn bread, Mac and cheese, and fried cabbage better?! O.o Overall: it was good, but M&Ms is closer, so I would probably just go there. If you're in the neighborhood, you should check it out though.
