| - First, I would like to thank the men and women in Blue for all they do.
As an ex cop from another state, I can't say I am familiar with the laws in AZ or protocol they have.
I am visiting from out of state and unfortunately was in an accident today. I was on 16th street marking a right on to Bethany Home road. While making the right turn, I was struck by the vehicle behind me. The other driver clearly at fault. Police where called, they only took 15 minutes to get there, so not bad. The issues occurred after the officer arrived.
He clearly was young and new to the job, shouldn't matter, but he asked for both of our drivers licenses, insurance cards and registrations. He then took the other driver to find out what happened. After a few minutes he returned to ask my side of the story.
About 45 min - to an hour into this ordeal, a man randomly showed up and said he was a witness, from where ? He said he saw what happened and contradicted my story.
I question the officer, on where he was and why did it take so long for him to come forward. Funny how we were still there for him to give this false statement.
As an ex cop, and having investigational skills, one would think that the other driver called someone he knew to show up ????
2 1/2 hours later, and several officers showing up several times for the officer handling this to talk to, because he didn't know what he was doing.
I was also told by him that Arizona requires an officer to issue a ticket it all traffic incidents. I asked him for the statue, but of course was unable to provide.
He eventually finished nd issues me the ticket for "improper position for right turn". Really, where you there? Can you determine this for sure ? No he used the witnesses statement, which is not even listed on the report ?
What happened to the other driver failing to yield right of way.
After questioning the officer, he replied, "I don't need to answer you and I don't like your attitude". Really ? Why, because I am correct and you are embarrassed that I questioned you on this.
Sad, that someone can get away with this. I guess I have to weigh my options and see if it's beneficial to come back to Arizona to fight this ???
