| - This is one of my favorite restaurants at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Gotta love the fusion of Chinese and Mexican flavors. The service is impeccable every time I go, the small plate food is fresh, delicious and flavorful! It is pricier than other places (welcome to the Las Vegas Strip!) but it's definitely worth every dollar.
I brought my mom to join me for lunch. She makes her own bomb guacamole, yet she craves the guacamole from China Poblano. You know it's gotta be good! Shout out to the hostess for being attentive when seating us, she was gracious in offering another table right away when we weren't too keen on the first (it was tight fit for us lol)
Please please PLEASE try the table side guacamole! Rumor has it the place might discontinue it, and I say keep it! The server makes the guacamole in front of you, and it was to our perfection of taste. I understand it's more difficult to offer this when it's busy, just have a dedicated person to make it on those busy days. It's such a nice touch that makes the dining experience that much more enjoyable.
Onto the food: we ordered the chips and salsa with the table side guacamole and When Pigs Fly for our main lunch items. The portions are small, they are small plates after all. But we were left quite satisfied with this. The salsa is made fresh, no heat is added so if you like spicy, let your server know! When Pigs Fly is their take on Chinese pork buns. They're Toby compared to what you get in China Town, but the flavor of the barbecue filling is to die for. Plus, the pork is leaner, not much fat which I like.
We ordered the buñuelos and the mango sticky rice for dessert. These are not made in the typical fashion, so keep an open mind when ordering! I won't ruin the surprise, that's what pics are for anyway. Again, the flavors were so delicious, especially that coffee ice cream.
Samantha was our server and she's the best we've had. The food runners and bussers were on their A game, we never had empty glasses, plates were whisked away promptly and even when it was busy, they made the effort to chat a little by inquiring if everything was to our liking. Until next time!
