| - Wow. Definitely will be back to Heist as often as I can find an excuse!! Not only did they have a great selection of beers (I'm always so very excited to find a good stout or porter, especially during the summer months when they often disappear from menus), but the food was fantastic. Every one of our table of 5 couldn't say enough good things about the food and beer.
Service was not terrible, but seemed a little stretched and chaotic. We were called in before our table was ready, and then I received another phone call alerting me that the table was open after we'd been seated for several minutes. It took our waiter over 10 minutes to come greet us, but after that he was fairly accessible and did a great job keeping up with our orders.
So, the food. Amazing. I highly recommend these dishes we tried:
Hummus and Cheese Squeeze (Fresh veggies and hummus on a menu ia always a bonus, and the baked pretzel sticks and flat bread crackers with the goat cheese were amazingly tasty.)
1717 Corn Dogs (The root beer BBQ was the perfect complement to this unique take on corn dogs.)
Salmon Belly Tacos (Wow the salmon belly and fresh flavors of the greens were delicious, and the sticky bun taco shell rounded this dish out perfectly.)
3 Bean Not So Burger (Amazing. I can't believe this is made in a restaurant! Delicious small bean burgers on top of an amazing combo of kale and avocado vinaigrette. So satisfying and tasty.)
Black Yard Bird (These had a uniquely robust tangy/sour flavor, but the marmalade dipping sauce was the perfect balance for the bold flavor of the wings.)
Caesar Salad Egg Rolls (Yet again, a unique - and successful - take on egg rolls. Probably my favorite "egg roll" ever. The shells were large and fried but not oily tasting. The flavors were pronounced and delicious...all around great.)
Cheesy Mac Flatbread (My husband ordered this, and I was skeptical. Wow, was I wrong. We all agreed the flatbread was grilled perfectly and was incredibly flavorful.)
Alder Wood Smoked Salmon Bubble (Wonderful smokey flavored salmon with a delicious potato puree and mushroom cream. Three small portions, yet surprisingly satisfying.)
17 Dusted Banana Eggrolls (Woah. Hazelnut mousse made me want to cry. All around tasty goodness.)
Boozy Butterscotch Blondie (Served hot in a cast iron skillet with ice cream and warm caramelized peaches on top, this is rich and amazing to the last bite.)
Everyone in our group was able to find a beer they liked, and all the beers we tried were greatly enjoyed as well.
I just want to say "thank you" to Heist Brewery for caring about good food and beer...and for making Cataclysm. Once again, amazing.
