I dropped off my rifle to be inspected for problems with light hammer strikes and a bolt that would not stay open when the last round was fired. When I picked up the gun after paying $35 for the inspection the owner told me he found nothing wrong with the rifle, that it fired fine and he did not know why the bolt would not hold open when the mag was empty. As soon as I got home with the rifle (Remington 597 .22 lr) I tore it down and IMMEDIATLY noticed that the bolt hold open was COMPLETLEY missing from the receiver. This guy is either a total hack or a complete idiot (I'm leaning towards both). I have no experience in rifle parts but was able to determine the problem in under five minutes on the internet. Quick search on remington's website showed I was missing parts 13 thru 15 on the diagram. Ordered for 15 bucks.
