| - The Common Market is SO COOL!!! Honestly, it was such a cool spot I found myself sitting there wondering if I was cool enough to be in there. I imagine the average Common Market customer to be a colorfully tattooed musician wearing sneakers custom designed by their equally cool artist significant other. In other words, this place seems like the perfect haven for creative, free-spirited Charlotteans who appreciate kombucha, beer and free love.
If a dive bar, a delicatessen, a New York-style upscale boutique grocery, and a punk rock music venue had a baby, they would name it The Common Market. There are lots of random things for sale on its shelves, like flotation devices, board games, and obscure candy. There is a little bar in the back, offering draft beer, draft kombucha, and $5 mimosas (at least when I was there on Saturday morning!). You can order food to pick-up at the courter to-go, or eat it on a stool or in one of their two quirky booths. I have only been for breakfast and unfortunately, have not had the best experience with food. I had soysage which was completely inedible (but props for offering vegan options!). I have had several people say that dinner is exceptional.
People watching is the best part of hanging out at The Common Market, and there is always someone interesting with whom to have a chat. It's so thrilling to experience some true local flavor in Charlotte--and there is live music at The Common Market almost every night! Drop by sometime and make The Common Market one of your CLT hangouts; I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
