| - I was here recently for the first time. This place is fairly new, large and clean. If I lived in Markham I would probably shop here often. I don't think it's worth the drive from Toronto proper though, because Toronto has equally good if not better malls.
Markville's floor plan is like an elongated U with some small offshoots. The big box stores are Walmart, Sears, The Bay, Best Buy and Winners/Homesense. They have more expensive stores like Coach, Michael Kors, and Swarovski too. And all the usual suspects of big shopping centres (H&M, Zara, Forever 21, La Senza, etc.). It's a Cadillac Fairview owned Mall, which all have a similar look and feel (except this mall has a Walmart in it, which is not typical of Cadillac Fairview Malls that I know of, but this Walmart is better kept than most).
The food court is big and modern looking, but does not have any unusual or non-chain places to eat. Again, the usual suspects: Thai Express, A&W, New York Fries, Manchu Wok, Taco Bell, KFC, you get the idea.
If you spent your teenaged years at Yorkdale, the Eaton Centre and the underground PATH, you might feel a bit of "been there, done that" with Markville, but if you're from outside of the GTA and want to do some out-of-town shopping, you'll have a good time here. Also, if you live in the area and want a place to hang out, I think this would be a good place.
