Came in for my 1st LOF and when I left the dealership and was almost home I happened to notice my check engine light on in my Brand new Silverado. I thought what the hell it's a brand new truck with only 10k on it and it was not on when i brought it to them.. I then turned around just to go right back to the dealership to find out what the issue was. I pulled up to the service bay and went back into the service area and talked to my service person and told him about my check engine light being on and he looked at me like i was crazy or stoned. He then when out to my truck and hooked up a obd scanner to my truck to see what was going on with it. It then threw a code when he hooked it up. He then popped my hood and started looking around to see if he could find out the issue,,Well i was standing there with him when I noticed my oil cap was missing,, Mind you i just drove my truck from the dealer to my house with no oil cap on my truck... So as he and i were looking for the problem i see the oil cap sitting up on the cowl of my truck I grabbed the cap and said to the service guy look here is my oil cap I then put the oil cap back on and he said how sorry they were and that was it. Well as I am driving home and i turn my A/c / Fresh air vent on I smell burning oil I then knew when they left the oil cap off from the oil change and i drove my truck home with no oil cap on so it shot oil all over my engine and my Brand new truck smelled like burnt oil. i had a appt on the next Thursday to have my door panel looked at while i was there i told them about the smell and they pressure washed my engine and told me it SHOULD be ok. Well guess what, my new truck still smells like burning oil when i drive.. this is such bs they should pay more attention when doing lof's if it were my biz i would fire the person... all i can say is beware. Its way easier to do the work yourself and save yourself the headache of sitting at sands for 3 hours while they piss around and waste your time... way to go Sands Chevy Surprise AZ... also your service guy Mark needs a re-evaluation ... .P.S. Meanwhile while driving my truck around I have to worry about it catching on fire because I constantly spell burning oil coming from somewhere. What a great feeling this is.
