While this is the first time posting a review here, this was not the first time dining here. This past weekend was able to enjoy a wonderful meal at Le Cirque.
Our normal approach is to go for the prix fixe menu but this time we decided to go with the truffle menu. Wife choose 3 savory courses while I did 4.
The meal started with the amuse bouche which was smoked salmon topped with creme fraiche and caviar. Excellent start, could really taste the smokiness of the salmon.
My first course was the sunchoke veloutte while the wife had the scrambled eggs. Both complimented the truffles so well. There was richness in each of the courses.
From here my wife then had the sunchoke soup while I had the tagliatelle. The tagliatelle was one of the best past courses I have ever had that wasn't in Italy. It was perfect cooked pasta with a nice sauce that paired pefectly with the truffles. This will be a regular choice for me in the future as long as it is on the menu.
We then both had the quail stuffed with foie gras. This course was good but I think we both went into this dish expecting on of the best things we ever will have eaten. The quail was cooked pefectly, nice combination of flavors. It was missing something to put it over the top. Will say that it was plated with such care.
My final savory course was the rabbit symphony. This was also amazing. It was by far the largest sized dish on the truffle menu. You get multiple pieces of the rabbit so you can see how the chef is able to master a delicate meat. Not the first time I have gotten this dish nor the last.
Desserts were very good with lots of options. Wife did a chocolate souffle while I went with the red velvet cake.
The truffle menu was really good. All the dishes were in the very good to excellent range. The amount of truffle you get with each dish is not all that generous so don't expect this to be completely covered with shavings. That is not surprising given the price isn't that high for this option and it was alba while truffles which are the most expensive truffles in the world.
