God I hate writing like this b/c I want to support local business but I gotta be honest...
Grocery?!? I wasn't in there for overpriced tomatoes or onions, but they are certainly what caught my attention first. The tomatoes were wrinkly and withered and the onions - they were sprouting! I never expect all the produce I shop to be eerily Safeway-perfect and photogenic (it certainly rarely is at Sunflower or Sprouts but I love 'em both the same), but this array of 6th-rate veggies actually lessened my appetite! For the pastries!
"Fresh" pre-packaged meals? The salads and whatnot in their plastic containers looked at least a day old! Limp and wholly unappetizing. And I was there early in the morning - seemed to me these items were leftovers.
Pastries / Breads - so I came for these on again, a (weekend) morning, and they were already out of (or simply didn't have) 2 of their 3 flavored croissants. Not a big deal, I guess. The spread of at least 4 different items to sample distracted me from the lack of what I'd initially wanted (is offering too many things as samples how they ran out of the chocolate croissants in the first place? I dunno...) and I nibbled on a few items. They were not especially impressive, but good enough to purchase an almond croissant (which ended up being too heavy but decent) while my friend had a chocolate chip cookie (good but not spectacular).
Overall, I was really disappointed! Did I catch these people on an off day? Whatever the case, I may give this place another chance. If I have to. Maybe. I dunno.
