| - The day after the Cubs won the World Series, my colleagues at work were in the mood for a lunch that celebrated Chicago. A few restaurants with Mid-West roots were suggested, but Chicago Hamburger Company was the nearly unanimous choice.
Orders were taken and one guy was dispatched to stand in line. I understand there's usually a wait here because they get busy. This lunch happened to coincide with their free slider promotion. The owner pledged to serve 2,016 free sliders if the Cubs won it all. Normally, that would seem a safe bet based on their performance over the last century. Incidentally, Chicago Hamburger Co. had a similar promo when the White Sox won their title 11 years ago. I can respect that.
After standing in line (see photo below) for approximately 45 minutes, the order was taken and turned around very quickly. I selected a regular slider, a double cheese slider and some garlic fries. Both burgers were grilled with onions. And the fries were seasoned and served with a generous portion of minced garlic. Now that I think about it, this may not be the best place to take a date...
Free or not, the sliders are awesome. I'm looking forward to trying some other items on the menu, such as a regular burger or a Chicago Dog. The only difference will be, I will be eating it there.
