  • Support local business. Ok, with that out of the way let me tell you a little about The Spot. I placed an online order for lunch today, and I should say that this option is fantastic for parents with small kids. And as a first timer, it was nice to take my time figuring out what to order, without the stress of doing it in front of a line at the register. First impression walking into the Spot: it's small. Real small. It's a split level with very limited seating on 1st level where you can place your order, and then a bit more spacious seating on the 2nd level (stairway leading up as you walk through the front foor). The downsides to a smaller establishment like The Spot- it gets warm inside very quickly, and stuffy. The other downfall is that much of the menu is cooked on a flattop grill so you get the "smoke and smell" permeating throughout the place. I was inside for no more than 5-10 minutes and walked out smelling like a burger joint. The food is decent- the menu options include sliders, grilled chicken sandwiches, chicken salad- your average pub grub fare. We ordered a side of Mac n Cheese, and it was luke warm with minimal flavor. Meant for our 19 month old daughter, most of it ended up on the dining room floor, another sign of its less than stellar presentation. My wife was disappointed with the chicken salad, as it used grilled chicken and gave a strange combo flavor. The bacon on my Classic Spot sandwich was undercooked, and the fries were extra greasy. For some, this might be a good thing? The staff was very friendly, and courteous. I stood around waiting for my order to finish and the front counter was chatting away with other patrons. The Spot offers a text message club where you can receive specials via SMS on your smart phone. It's a cool idea, and today there was some sort of "all you can eat" deal that others were excited to take part in. All in all, I'd be hard pressed to give The Spot another chance. We only paid $22 for three meals, which is a great deal for lunch. And the portions were large. But the food was just o-k and the menu options were lackluster (nothing to blow you away). I always want to support my local businesses, and maybe down the line I'll keep an eye on additional Yelp reviews to see if they pick up their game a bit.
